Q. How can I find out whether my Stay NJ payment will be a direct deposit or a check? I’d rather have it automatically go to my checking account.

A. You’d think it would be a direct deposit if you previously had direct deposit for your ANCHOR payment.

But that’s not the case this time.

Everyone eligible for Stay NJ will receive a check, the Treasury Department said.

The state didn’t explain why.
