Q. Why has there been such a delay in N.J. tax refunds? Ours was sent in two months ago and the website indicates that it was received and pending. Speaking to others in N.J., they also have not received refunds.
— Frustrated with the wait

A. We have received so many questions asking why there’s been a delay for many people.

We checked back again with the Treasury Department.

It said the processing numbers do not indicate any delays in issuing refunds this year and no additional security reviews have been put in place.

The state is slightly ahead of the previous year with issuing refunds, spokesman Jeremy Lemmon Jr. told us.

“To date, 3 million refunds totaling $3.1 billion have already been sent to taxpayers,” he said. “At this time last year, we were at 2.9 million refunds issued.”

He did say some taxpayers have experienced delays when the Division of Taxation requests additional documentation to verify information on a return or when a taxpayer files a paper return because the processing may take as long as 16 weeks.
