02 May How can I get a phone appointment with N.J. Taxation?
Photo: pixabay.comQ. If you have questions and want to make an appointment about what the issue is with a tax return for New Jersey, the phone appointment request only lets you make an appointment for the day you go to that page — and it’s always filled. No option to look further except that day, no matter what time of the day it is when you look. How is that helpful? All it says is none available and try again.

A. That’s frustrating.
We asked the Treasury Department what gives.
It said the Division of Taxation offers an average of 75 appointments per day based on available staff.
“The most optimal time to schedule an appointment is early morning, when more appointment slots are released for the next three days,” a spokesman said.
We asked what time those appointments become available, but the agency didn’t answer back.
People have asked a similar question about scheduling a Real ID appointment with the Motor Vehicle Commission, and it has said its appointments become available at 7 am.m each day. But for Taxation, we just don’t know.
The agency did say taxpayers may also visit one of the Division’s Regional Information Centers for walk-in service. You can find those locations here.
