Last year we got 2 ANCHOR payments. Why not this year?

Q. My recent wife and I are having trouble understanding why only one of us received an ANCHOR payment for 2020 when we were not married but sharing a home we purchased together. We’re both on the deed and on the mortgage. I received the 2020 benefit but she has not. In 2019, we both received benefits. Why?

A. Congratulations on your marriage.

It seems the state may have made a mistake.

The 2020 ANCHOR benefit it paid based on your status in 2020.

If you didn’t get married until this year, that should not have any impact on the 2020 benefit, when you were probably filing separate tax returns.

Try giving the ANCHOR hotline a call at (888) 238-1233, and a representative can review your application and status for the 2020 benefit.
