Q. I did not receive an application for the 2019 ANCHOR benefit. Is it too late to apply?
— Homeowner

A. If you were eligible for the 2019 benefit but you didn’t apply, you may have left the money on the table.

The state wasn’t required to send applications to every taxpayer, though some did receive one.

The applications were also available online for printing and mailing, or some people were able to file online.

The deadline for the 2019 benefit has come and gone, but you can still give it a try.

You would apply, and expect to be denied. But then, you can appeal and ask for reconsideration.

It’s not likely the payment will be approved for reasons such as you saying you didn’t know about it — ANCHOR was highly publicized — or that you didn’t receive an application in the mail.

But issues like medical complications may give you a positive appeal opportunity.

The ANCHOR hotline is (888) 238-1233.
