A. If you qualify, you can get both benefits.

For ANCHOR, there are several requirements, including residency, and there are also income requirements.

Homeowners 65 years or older earning $150,000 or less will receive $1,750. Those earning between $150,001 and $250,000 will receive $1,250.

Homeowners under the age of 65 earning $150,000 and under will receive $1,500 and those earning between $150,001 and $250,000 will receive $1,000.

Renters over the age of 65 who earn less than $150,000 will receive $700. Renters who are 64 and under will receive $450.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 29.

The ANCHOR hotline is (888) 238-1233.

For the Senior Freeze, which “freezes” property taxes by refunding annual increases to homeowners, there are also requirements.

For the current 2022 benefit year, taxpayers must have been 65 or older on Dec. 31, 2021 or must have been receiving Social Security benefits on or before Dec. 31, 2021. They must have lived in New Jersey continuously since Dec. 31, 2011, or earlier, as either a homeowner or a renter, and owned and lived in their home, or leased a site in a mobile home park where they placed a mobile home, since Dec. 31, 2018, or earlier, the state said.

They also must have paid property taxes or mobile home site fees on time in 2021 and 2022.

The income limits will go up in future years, but for the current 2022 benefit year, a taxpayer’s 2022 income must be $99,735 or less, and 2021 income must be $94,178 or less.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 31, you can apply online for the first time.

The Senior Freeze hotline is (800) 882-6597.
