A. Happy birthday to your spouse.
Stay NJ eligibility is based on residency, income and age as of 2024.
But you should still be proactive here.
We’re guessing you did not receive the PAS-1 combined application for Senior Freeze, ANCHOR and Stay NJ in the mail. But hold tight until next week.
The Treasury Department said it is sending ANCHOR notification letters on Aug. 13. Those who receive the letters will have their ANCHOR application entered automatically.
“We will not automatically file the PAS-1 for taxpayers 65 or older, or those receiving Social Security disability benefits,” it said. “You must file the PAS-1 application on your own — online or by paper. This includes senior residents who qualify only for the ANCHOR Program. You must file the PAS-1 to receive the ANCHOR benefit.”
But because your spouse wasn’t yet 65, there’s a good chance the state will file for ANCHOR automatically.
You’ve got time because the deadline isn’t until October. Just see if you get the letter first.
