Is the Stay NJ income limit combined for married homeowners?

Q. Our question is about the income limit for the Stay NJ property tax relief program. If the home is owned jointly between spouses, is the below $500,000 2024 income limit per each individual homeowner, or is it per the combined income of the two spouses?

A. It’s combined.

Note that Stay NJ still needs to be funded in the state budget, which has a deadline of July 1. There’s been a lot of criticism about that $500,000 income limit, and there’s talk in Trenton about lowering the limit as part of the funding bill.

We’re keeping our ears out.
