Q. How do we assist seniors without computers with updates that are required to be done online?
— Trying to help

A. It’s great that you’re trying to help out.

A lot depends on what kinds of updates you mean.

Some services still allow for updates, as you said, using telephone services. You may also be able to go in person to the company or agency to get the required help, even though we know that’s not always convenient.

If a service requires some kind of online action, perhaps you can help the senior by accessing the service over a cell phone with internet access, or maybe you have a portable tablet or laptop that you can bring to the senior to assist that way.

Another option is your local library. If you take this route, be sure to understand how the information will remain private when using a public computer, and make sure you log out of every account you try to access.
