Q. Are there any more stimulus payments from COVID?
— Needing cash

A. COVID stimulus payments are over, but if you never received yours, you can still try to get it.

There were three payments you should know about.

The first came from the CARES Act and was worth up to $1,200 for an individual income tax filer or $2,400 for those who were married and filed a joint tax return, plus $500 per qualifying child.

The second came from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, paying up to $600 for individuals or $1,200 for married couples and up to $600 for each qualifying child.

And the third, from the American Rescue Plan, paid up to $1,400 per individual and $2,800 for married couples filing a joint tax return, plus up to $1,400 per qualifying child.

Those who didn’t file a tax return may not have received the payments, the IRS said.

So they can file their 2020 and 2021 tax returns and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.

“The IRS estimates that some individuals and families are still eligible for the payment(s),” the IRS said. “However, taxpayers must first file a tax return to make their claim even if they had little or no income from a job, business or other source.”

The agency said the deadline for the 2020 return is May 17, 2024, and it’s April 15, 2025 for the 2021 return,

If you qualify, you can get free help from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs, the agency said.
