Q. I’m 63 years old and collecting disability. Can I switch to regular Social Security and how much would I receive – more or less than my disability?

A. Few things in life are simple, but this one is. There will be an automatic switchover.

When you hit Full Retirement Age (FRA), your Social Security disability benefit will automatically convert to a retirement benefit, said Jerry Lynch, a certified financial planner with JFL Total Wealth Management in Boonton.

“The benefit amount will remain the same,” Lynch said.
