Q. I have been in New Jersey since 2006 and I received the ANCHOR benefit. I never got a letter to apply for 2021. My and my husband’s income is very low. We sold our home in September 2021 and moved to a different New Jersey address. What should we do?

A. Assuming your qualify for the ANCHOR benefit with income limits below $250,000 for homeowners and $150,000 for renters, you must have lived in your home as of Oct. 1, 2021 to be eligible for the current benefit.

It doesn’t matter that you moved from one home to another in the state.

The Oct. 1, 2021 address is what matters.

But you also want to make sure that your benefit goes to the correct address or bank account.

You will have to apply at the ANCHOR site and go through the identity verification process to get the ID and PIN that’s needed to apply.

The ANCHOR hotline is (888) 238-1233 or (609) 826-4282.
