Q. Will we still have to file new applications for ANCHOR or we are on record if our information hasn’t changed?
— Taxpayer

A. If your information hasn’t changed, you MAYBE won’t have to file a new application.

The state said it’s sending out notification letters to 1.5 million taxpayers saying they don’t need to do anything — and that their applications are being filed automatically — as long as their information hasn’t changed.

But if you don’t get one of the letters, whether your information has changed or not, you will have to act.

But give it a little time. On Aug. 26, the state will send application packets to most other residents. These will have the ID number and PIN you’ll need to file for ANCHOR.

If you don’t get that by Labor Day, you can still file, but you’ll have to log in to anchor.nj.gov and verify your identity using ID.me. Once you do, your needed ID number and PIN will be provided on the screen.

The deadline to file is Nov. 30, 2024 but the state said if it has your information and you need to make a change, the deadline is Sept. 15, 2024.
