Q. I filed Senior Freeze on Feb, 20. I thought I would be one of the first to get my check. When can I expect it?
— Waiting

A. We wish we could tell you exactly when, or why you were not in the first batch that went out more than two weeks ago.

New rounds of payments are supposed to go out regularly. Yours may already be on the way, but it’s also possible there was a problem with your application or the state has a question for you.

But given that it’s still early, we recommend you try to be patient and give it some more time.

The Treasury Department said it sent payments to more than 125,000 qualifying seniors starting on July 15.

It said it sent more than $145 million of payments in that round.

You can apply and check the status of your application online at njportal.com/taxation/ptr or call the Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Information Line for assistance at (800) 882-6597.

The deadline to file for the 2023 Senior Freeze is Oct. 31, 2024.
