Q. When will applications and checks be sent for ANCHOR? Do I need to fill an application even if I did it last year?

Do you have to file an application? Maybe.

Last week, the Treasury Department mailed ANCHOR Benefit Confirmation letters to more than 1 million residents.

These are the letters that will tell you that your application for ANCHOR will be filed automatically by the state.

More than 537,000 letters were sent to eligible homeowners and more than 549,000 letters have been sent to renters, the state said.

At the same time, the state made available the ANC-1, the application for people under age 65.

So if you didn’t get a letter, you should complete the application, which can be found at
nj.gov/treasury/taxation/propertyreliefforms.shtml.

But if you are age 65 or older or disabled, you need to file the PAS-1, which has been available online for months.

If you did receive a letter but some of your information has changed, such as your bank account information, you will need to file a new application by Sept. 15, the state said.
