A. The ANCHOR benefit is not only for seniors.
If the person you’re asking about is a homeowner, they must have been a New Jersey resident, and owned and occupied a home in New Jersey that was their principal residence on Oct. 1, 2024. The home must have been subject to property taxes, and the homeowner’s 2024 New Jersey gross income must have been $250,000 or less.
If the person is a renter, they must have been a New Jersey resident, and occupied a principal residence in the state on Oct. 1, 2024. Their name must be on a lease or rental agreement, they must have paid rent and their 2024 New Jersey gross income must have been $150,000 or less.
Homeowners — depending on their income level — could receive up to $1,500, while renters get $450. (Seniors get an extra $250 bonus payment.)
The key for non-seniors? They don’t complete the PAS-1, but instead, look for the form called ANC-1 on the state’s website.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 31, 2025.
