Q. I’m a renter and I’m not a senior. Do I have to apply for ANCHOR?
— Tenant

A. Maybe.

Eligible New Jersey homeowners and renters under 65 and not collecting Social Security disability benefits may have their applications automatically filed, the Treasury Department website says.

Some people will receive what’s called an “Auto-File Confirmation Letter” in the mail sometime this summer.

If you don’t receive one, you can file your application on the state’s website.
