Photo: pixabay.comQ. PAS-1 covers PTR for Senior Freeze, ANCHOR and Stay. However, for people who due to New Jersey income limits do not need to file New Jersey income tax forms, there is a separate NJ-1040-HW where you can file and receive a $50 property tax credit if you are a resident and 65 or over. Do you know if this form is also covered by PAS-1?

A. We took your question straight to the Treasury Department.
“The $50 property tax credit will be included for taxpayers that are not required to file an income tax return when they file the PAS-1,” a spokesman said. “The $50 credit will be included with a taxpayer’s ANCHOR portion of the rebate.”
If a taxpayer does not file a PAS-1, and does not need to file a regular 1040, they may file a 1040HW to receive the $50 credit – though such a scenario should be very rare, the spokesman said.
