A. Good question.
It depends upon your habits.
If you have multiple subscriptions and are not frequently — or at least annually — reviewing them to see if you are still using them or not, then it might be worth it, said Jody D’Agostini, a certified financial planner with The Falcon Financial Group in Morristown.
“It can take time to track and monitor all renewal schedules as they do not renew at the same time,” she said. It can save you time and effort and there would be less for you to manage.”
Some services help negotiate lower bills for recurring services such as utility bills, phone plans, etc. and might uncover hidden recurring charges of which you were not aware, D’Agostini said.
On the other side, the services will charge a monthly fee or take a percentage of the savings, she said.
“They might make you share confidential information such as credit card info and checking account numbers which can lend itself to security issues,” she said. “Many subscriptions are easily canceled online, but again, you would need to find the time to do so.”
Maybe you should start paying closer attention to your credit card bills and see what subscriptions you can find on your own, for free.
