I own a home with a partner. Do we both full ANCHOR benefits?

Q. I own a home with my significant other. We are both on the deed and on the mortgage. We are not married so we both filed special circumstances applications for the ANCHOR benefit. Will we both receive $1,500 or would we split that?

A. Sorry to share the bad news.

According to the Treasury Department, you would be “entitled to their proportionate share of the benefit based on their percentage of ownership.”

That’s why on the application instructions, it asks for your proportionate share of ownership.

We hope you get your benefit, or your half, at least, soon.
