Q. How secure is it to shred documents with a county truck?
— Full of old paperwork

A. It’s probably secure.

Many towns and counties offer a shredding service a couple of times a year. If you don’t have your own shredder, it’s a great way to get the job done.

But we can’t speak to each municipality’s practices when it comes to shredding operations.

Ask your local officials how they do it, and how they take care to make sure your documents are actually shredded. Or stop by the next time they have an event, and watch how it works.

If you feel comfortable, go for it.
