A. It’s not easy, but you can at least make a dent in the number of unwanted calls you receive.

These kinds of calls are the No. 1 complaint that comes in to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), the agency says.

It offers a consumer guide on Call Blocking Tools and Resources, which it said includes information on many of the call blocking and labeling tools currently available to consumers.

It said phone companies use call blocking technology to help stop illegal and unwanted calls from reaching your phone, and they will often label suspicious calls on your Caller ID as spam.

Your provider may also offer services that allow you to block specific numbers, so you should speak to your company to see what it offers.

There’s also a service called Nomorobo, which uses technology to block robocalls. It’s free for landlines, but there is a cost to use it for your cell phone.
