Q. Could you recommend a senior housing agency for New Jersey?

A. There are many options for senior housing.

You can also find many resources to help, depending on exactly the kind of assistance you need.

The State of New Jersey Department of Human Services website would be a good place to start when it comes to understanding the availability of options for senior housing in New Jersey, said Claudia Mott, a certified financial planner with Epona Financial Solutions in Basking Ridge.

The site has a list of housing options along with links to area agencies and a guide to affordable housing.

In addition, under the “Get Assistance” tab at this site, you will find a list of all of the County Offices on Aging, Mott said.

“The county-level agency has the responsibility of providing information and support services on a wide variety of needs including housing,” she said. “You would want to locate and contact the Senior Services agency for the county you live in.”

The toll free number to the Area Agency for Aging is (877) 222-3737.

The website also has a link to the New Jersey Housing Resource Center, which provides information on affordable and accessible housing in the state, she said. That number is (877) 428-8844

Individual communities within the state that provide senior housing may also have an agency or department that helps residents, she said, so you should check your town’s website or call town hall.
