Q. I missed the deadline to turn in my Senior Freeze application. I am nearing 80 and in poor health. Is there anything I can do?

A. We’re sorry to hear this.

You’re going to have to go through something of a process, which will start by submitting the late application.

“Taxpayers who file a Senior Freeze application past the deadline will be denied, as per the law, but they will be given the opportunity to appeal and provide documentation as to why they filed late,” said Danielle Currie, a spokeswoman for the state Treasury Department. “In some instances, such as medical reasons, they can be granted a timely filing.”
