Q. I didn’t get my ANCHOR benefit. What can I do?

A. The ANCHOR property tax benefit replaces the Homestead Benefit, and pays up to $1,500 for homeowners and $450 for renters depending on your income level.

If you didn’t receive a payment by May 3, you can check the status online or call (888) 238-1233.

Note that some residents have had trouble getting through on the hotline, something that was featured in an NJ.com special report about which state agencies do — and don’t — answer the phone.

The Treasury Department previously said some applications are taking longer to finalize because additional information was needed.
