Why hasn’t N.J. acted on these protections for homeowners?

The state is several months behind in taking action on landmark legislation to protect consumers from shoddy contractors.

Gov. Phil Murphy the bill into law in January. It would create a board that would establish a license for home improvement contractors, which would include educational and experience requirements that are not required under the current system.

Appointments to the board, per the law, should have been made by July 1.
