It’s a lesson in why it’s always important to read your bills, even if the amount you pay monthly never changes.

Today’s Bamboozled column features a woman who, years ago, said she paid monthly for an AT&T email address. When she finally decided to switch to a different email provider, she learned that she wasn’t actually paying for the email address, but for a dial-up service she didn’t use.

AT&T did the right thing for the customer after Bamboozled got involved, but the customer’s story is an important reminder to all of us. Check your bills. Every time. Always.
