New Jersey is one step closer to an electronic driver’s license and electronic access to a driver’s insurance card.

Two bills were approved in state Senate. One would have the Motor Vehicle Commission study the feasibility of an electronic license. The other, for an electronic insurance card, was approved and sent to Gov. Chris Christie, according to a report by NJ.com.

Paper licenses and insurance cards, under the proposals, would still be available for drivers.
