New Jersey is one of only 13 states where e-insurance cards are not allowed, but according to a report on NJ.com, that may be coming to an end.

A bill proposed by Assemblyman Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) would allow drivers to show proof of insurance via an electronic insurance card on their cell phones or other electronic devices, something many insurers already offer, the report said.

Right now only paper insurance cards shown to police officers or judges are accepted as proof of insurance in the state.
